For reference: One of my earliest projects!
If you can’t tell, I love the Millennium Falcon. One of my earliest projects was this Falcon pillow! It’s falling apart, and has way too many buttons to be comfortable, but I like to look back on it to remind myself how far I’ve come!
Think Geek Contest (2018): Timmy as Doctor Strange
I entered a Think Geek contest (back when it was still an online store) to dress up their mascot – Timmy the monkey! Many of the options I wanted to make were already done, so I decided to do Doctor Strange! He’s also into neuroscience, like myself, so I got excited. Also it’s Benedict Cumberbatch… I had to gut this poor little guy so I could put a tealight in him. His eye of Agamotto pendent lights up! I didn’t even find out they posted the contest until after it was over, otherwise I’m sure I could’ve done better. Nonetheless, I got second place of all the submissions sent to the company directly!
Outfits I’ve Made
Self-drafting patterns is always a fun challenge! The circle skirt pattern relied on my geometry skills, but overall was pretty easy! It’s made out of a striped cotton fabric, and there’s a zipper down the back. I added big pockets because I’m a firm believer that all dresses/skirts need pockets. The shirt was based off of a button down shirt I already owned and liked the fit of. I used cotton for that as well. Getting the collar right was a little tricky, but I got there in the end. This project also convinced me to figure out how to use the buttonhole feature of my sewing machine (which is magic, I swear!) Overall, I’m very happy with how this turned out! It seemed like a fitting outfit choice for when I had my headshots done 🙂
This silver shift dress was for a concert I saw with my sister! I loved the porg cardigan I bought, but didn’t have anything that matched. I decided to make it myself!
I made this mermaid style dress for a good friend of mine to wear to a dance. It was the first time I made clothes for another person, and the first time I added a zipper! I did it on an older machine meant for beginners, which was the real accomplishment here. Overall, we were both really happy with it!
Masks
Set of 4 for a friend! My first ever Etsy listing! Matching Moana masks for a friend’s sister and niece! Reversible masks sides 1. Reversible masks sides 2. Mask for a friend! Commissioned mask from a friend with a memorable mustache! 3 masks (and an ear saver) for one of my cousins!
Cat Toys & Plushes
Plush milk carton for Atlas, with catnip and silvervine mixture. White and chocolate plush milk cartons. Strawberry milk carton plush.
Commissions
A chair cover for my friend’s sister! I’m convinced this cushion is cursed, though. I’ve never had so many problems with a project before. Oven mitts commissioned as a gift! It took a long time to track down fabric that we liked, but we eventually found this gem! Inside the oven mitts with the shirtless men!
