Mask Washing Instructions

Thank you for doing your part by wearing a mask! Please note that kids under the age of 2 should refrain from wearing a mask (CDC). For more information regarding masks, I highly recommend the CDC website!

*It’s very important to wash your mask after each use!*

  • All of my masks are made of 100% cotton. The fabric was prewashed. I suggest washing darker fabrics separately as they may still lose some dye in the wash.
  • These masks are safe to go in the washing machine and dryer. I recommend using a “delicates bag” to keep it separate and easily spotted. These masks can also be hand washed and left to air dry. Be sure to remove any filters you may have put in the mask’s filter pocket before washing.
  • Wash this product in hot water with normal detergent. Dry in the dryer or air dry.

Oven Mitt Washing Instructions

  • These oven mitts are made with 100% cotton for the outer fabrics, with 4 layers of Insul-Bright thermal fabric per mitt. The fabric was pre-washed and ironed before sewing!
  • Can be machine or hand washed. Although these mitts can withstand hot water, I would recommend washing these mitts in cold water whenever possible. Stains may need to be pre-treated, however.
  • Tumble dry in the dryer, if needed. Or let air dry.
  • These mitts are safe to be ironed!

Apron Washing Instructions

  • Aprons are made with cotton for both the front and back fabrics. The straps are cotton as well. The fabric was pre-washed and ironed before sewing!
  • Can be machine or hand washed. If you’re worried about it losing color, I recommend a colder water temperature or using a special detergent that helps retain colors.
  • Tumble dry in the dryer or let air dry.
  • It’s safe to be ironed!

Ear Saver Directions

The ear saver sits on the back of the head. It helps to keep the mask tighter to your face, and relieves some of the strain on your ears.

To those that can, it helps to put long hair in a ponytail. Put the mask on like you normally would, but hook the elastic on the buttons instead of your ears.

Iron On Patch Instructions

  1. Clean the fabric that you wish to adhere the patch to. It may be helpful to iron the garment first before continuing.
  2. Place the patch in the desired spot (make sure the design is facing up, the back side will be shiny and a little sticky).
  3. Heat an iron to a medium/high setting such as Cotton. No steam necessary.
  4. Place a light towel or cloth on top of the patch. Iron over the top of this for ~30 seconds. Make sure to press down firmly, and try not to move the iron around too abruptly as it may shift the patch.
  5. Flip over fabric and iron the “wrong side” for an additional ~30 seconds.
  6. Let cool for at least a minute. If the patch feels loose or the edges are not adhered enough, repeat the previous step until secure.

**DO NOT place this patch on a fabric that can’t be ironed (such as vinyl, leather, or nylon)**

**DO NOT bleach!**

Catnip & Silvervine Safety Info

Catnip:

  • Catnip (Nepeta cataria)  is a plant related to the mint family. When crushed, the plant produces a chemical called Nepetalactone that is highly attractive to cats (including big cats, like lions!) making it a fun treat. Roughly 50-70% of cats are affected by it in some way. Many cats enjoy rolling around on it or even licking it!
  • Cats that just sniff catnip often end up feeling hyper sensations, while those who eat it tend to feel mellowed out. Either way, the response is usually over within about 10-15 minutes. It’s not uncommon for cats to be drowsy or even drool afterwards. *Note that catnip may not be the best choice for cats with aggressive behavior, as it could encourage such actions.*
  • Frequent exposure to catnip may cause your cat to respond less. Spacing out the use of catnip can help to prevent this.

Silvervine:

  • Silvervine (Actinidia polygama) is a plant that grows atop mountains in Japan and China. About 75% of cats, including those that don’t react to catnip, respond to silvervine instead. It has essentially the same effects as catnip (rolling around, drooling, licking). It’s potency can cause the effects to be more intense, and last even longer. A cat’s reaction to silvervine is often between 5 to 30 minutes!
  • The consumption of silvervine is generally considered okay, as many cats enjoy chewing on silvervine sticks (they are great for dental health, too!)

The use of Catnip & Silvervine in my Non-Refillable Cat Toys

  • This product contains a mixture of both catnip and silvervine! The brand SmartKat sells a package of the two already blended, which is what I used here. This cat toy contains about ~ 1 tsp of this mixture.
  • Although the catnip and silvervine are on the inside of this toy, be sure to supervise your cat while they’re playing. Cats with sharp claws or teeth may be able to break the toy and expose the mixture as well as the stuffing. Catnip and silvervine are both considered okay for consumption, but it’s still important to be vigilant. Stuffing should be discarded for your cats’ safety, and the toy should either be fixed or disposed of.
  • When in doubt, ask your veterinarian if catnip and/or silvervine may be a good choice for your cat. Some cats may react negatively, while others may not react at all. Always be sure to supervise your kitty!

The use of Catnip & Silvervine in my Refillable Cat Toys:

  • This product comes with a mixture of both catnip and silvervine! The brand SmartKat sells a package of the two already blended, which is what I sent. This cat toy can hold about~ 1 tsp of this mixture at a time, if you so chose. Make sure to remove it before washing.
  • Be sure to supervise your cat while they’re playing. Cats with sharp claws or teeth may be able to break the toy and expose the mixture as well as the stuffing. Catnip and silvervine are both considered okay for consumption, but it’s still important to be vigilant. Cat Toy Washing Instructions

For Non-Refillable Cat Toys: Cat toys that are washed often lose potency. There is evidence that the detergent may cling to the catnip and silvervine, which could be harmful to your cat if somehow ingested. The safest way to clean this toy is to wipe it down with warm water.

For Refillable Cat Toys: Please remove the catnip & silvervine mixture from the refillable pouch before washing!

  • This product is made of fleece! The fabric was prewashed.
  • If possible, wash by hand and let air dry. Otherwise it should be safe for a washing machine. A “delicate bag” can be used to keep it separate/safe. If the product seems absolutely soaked, it could likely go in the dryer for ~15 minutes and then left to air dry.
  • Wash this product in cold/warm water with an unscented detergent. Skip the use of fabric softener.
